On this special day, I wish to extend my deepest respect, friendship, and gratitude to one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Albanian poetry, an important figure in Albanian letters, and an intellectual who has devoted his life to an uninterrupted journey through language, freedom, memory, and artistic creation.
Kadrush Radogoshi is not merely a poet. He constitutes a literary world in his own right: a poet, prose writer, playwright, literary scholar, and critic, an author of powerful artistic individuality whose creative universe transcends the boundaries of a single generation, historical period, or geographical space.
In his work, the word is not merely a vehicle of expression; it becomes memory, testimony, symbol, and a form of resistance to oblivion. Radogoshi’s poetry is distinguished by a complex metaphorical structure, intellectual density, and a richly symbolic language in which history and myth, reality and imagination, suffering and hope converge within multilayered texts of profound interpretive potential.
One of the defining characteristics of his art is his ability to transform personal and historical experience into a universal human experience. His poetry resonates with the echoes of Orpheus, Laocoön, Dardania, collective memory, and the tragedies of history. Yet these references do not remain merely cultural allusions or inherited symbols; they are creatively reinterpreted and invested with renewed meaning through a modern imagination and a refined poetic sensibility.
Radogoshi is a poet of the palimpsest, of the stratification of memory, of that which lies concealed beneath the visible surface of history. His poetic style often calls for an active reader, because meaning is not always offered directly; rather, it must be discovered, reconstructed, and experienced. This is one of the defining marks of his mature literature and one of the reasons why his work remains open to new readings and interpretive perspectives.
Moreover, the trajectory of his life has endowed his literary work with a distinctive moral dimension. Persecution, imprisonment, censorship, and the denial of his professional rights did not defeat the writer. On the contrary, these experiences were transformed into material for his creative consciousness. His word thus became not only an artistic expression but also a form of resistance—a testimony to the capacity of art to preserve human dignity in the face of historical violence.
For approximately twenty-five years, Kadrush Radogoshi has lived in Canada. Yet geographical distance has never severed his connection with the Albanian language, literature, and cultural heritage. On the contrary, from Canada he has continued to serve as an ambassador of Albanian literature, carrying his creative work into an increasingly broad international cultural space.
His work has been translated into several languages and has entered into literary communication beyond the Albanian-speaking world. His literary achievements and contribution to letters have also been recognized through significant awards and distinctions in Canada and on the international literary scene. Such recognition demonstrates that Albanian literature, when grounded in strong artistic individuality and universal human values, is fully capable of entering into a meaningful dialogue with other literary and cultural traditions.
For me, it is a particular privilege to have Kadrush Radogoshi as a friend and as a collaborator of Nacional and Nacional Publishing House. Kadrush belongs to that rare category of people of letters whose creative energy has not been exhausted; on the contrary, even at this stage of his life, he continues to envision new books, new projects, and new artistic horizons. In his case, age seems to deepen the intellectual dimension of his work without diminishing in any way his enduring thirst for creation.
Therefore, today I do not wish merely to commemorate 78 years of life. I wish to salute 78 years of a life devoted to the word—a life in which the poet has encountered light and darkness, silence and song, imprisonment and freedom, homeland and exile, while, above all, remaining faithful to literature.
For me and for Nacional Publishing House in Tirana, it has been both a pleasure and a distinct honor to collaborate with Mr. Kadrush Radogoshi, to publish several of his works, and to introduce them into the literary and cultural life of Tirana. Presenting his books in the capital, among Albanian writers, scholars, poets, and readers, has been a meaningful way of bringing his creative work closer to the Albanian public and of strengthening the natural cultural bridge connecting Kosovo, Albania, and the Albanian diaspora.

I wish you good health, a long life, inner peace, and many new works to come.
May your creative journey continue for many more years, because a true poet does not grow old; rather, he deepens the resonance of his voice.
