Tirana, May 19, 2026 — The 7th Reorganization Congress of the Albanian Writers and Artists Association was held on Tuesday at the Tirana International Hotel, marking an event of particular importance for Albanian literary, artistic, and cultural life. The congress brought together delegates from the Association’s branches, as well as representatives of literary and cultural organizations, clubs, and associations from across Albania and Albanian-inhabited regions in the Balkans.
The proceedings were conducted in a spirit of open dialogue, institutional responsibility, and a shared vision for strengthening the role of Albanian writers and artists in the country’s public and cultural life. Discussions focused on the need to modernize the activities of the Association, expand pan-Albanian and international cultural cooperation, and provide stronger support for Albanian literature and the arts amid new cultural and social challenges.
Following the completion of the secret ballot and vote-counting process for the election of the Chairman of the Albanian Writers and Artists Association, the Electoral Commission, elected by the Congress, officially declared Dr. Mujë Buçpapaj the winner with an absolute majority of votes.
Dr. Mujë Buçpapaj, an internationally recognized poet, literary scholar, university lecturer, and publisher of the literary and cultural newspaper Nacional, is regarded as one of the most distinguished voices of contemporary Albanian culture.
