Christine Chen: New Zealand Presents Albanian Poet Mujë Buçpapaj with a “Special Recognition Award” for His Outstanding Contribution to World Poetry

The honour was presented as part of New Zealand National Poetry Day

Last night, 21 August, the “Poetry Bridge” Performance Night was held in Auckland, New Zealand, as part of New Zealand National Poetry Day.

Twelve poets and writers from different countries were honoured with Special Recognition Awards in acknowledgement of their outstanding contributions to world poetry.

The recipients of the Special Recognition Awards were:

Dr. Sudipto Chattopadhyay (India), Dr. Mujë Buçpapaj (Albania), Kieu Bich Hau (Vietnam), Nurul Hoq (Bangladesh), Lamberto Garzia (Italy), Tan Yantong (Hong Kong), Agron Shele (Belgium), Lily Baylon Escritora (Spain), Zlatan Demirovic (United States), Ljupco Mihajlovski (North Macedonia), Shahid Abbas (Pakistan), and Christian Jensen (Norway).

Among the distinguished recipients was Dr. Mujë Buçpapaj, the Albanian poet, literary scholar, researcher and publicist, whose work and international cultural engagement have contributed to the promotion of Albanian literature and poetry within the broader landscape of world literature.

The honour was presented on behalf of the people of New Zealand, including the New Zealand Poetry Society, in recognition of the recipients’ contribution to poetry and international cultural exchange.

In a message addressed to Dr. Mujë Buçpapaj, Christine Chen, Trustee of the P and C Cultural Trust and Editor-in-Chief of Global Muse Magazine in Auckland, expressed her appreciation for his support of New Zealand poetry.

“Thank you sincerely for your support of New Zealand poetry. On this National Poetry Day, we acknowledge your contribution. We hope cultural exchange will continue, and wish the Albanian Writers Association success under your leadership.”
